Design Curiosities is now: Curiosity and Curiosities

A Stopgap as Design Curiosities becomes Curiosity and Curiosities

In an effort to bring more unique and thoughtful content to our site we’ve been discussing and working on what changes we need to make. As those changes are taking place behind the scenes, and to let you know that we are still here, you can find us at Curiosity and Curiosities. We are sharing visual content as a stopgap for this transition.

Barcelona based architectural office Barozzi / Veiga was founded in 2004 by Fabrizio Barozzi and Alberto Veiga. The duo have won a host of prizes in both national and international competitions, most recently receiving the Mies van der Rohe Award for their Szczecin Philharmonic Hall in Szczecin, Poland. In late 2014 Barozzi / Veiga was awarded the design of the new Tanzhaus along the Limmat river in Zürich, Switzerland to be completed in 2017. A fire severely damaged the building in October 2012.

Interiors: A+B Kasha

In the 19th century Napoleon III wanted to bring Paris into the modern era, and did so with the help of Georges Haussmann. Haussmann is known as one of the first urban planners in history, and made Paris what it is today. If you’d like to know more about him, I found this great article that chronicles his work for the city over at Art History Archive. Haussmann buildings today vary widely with renovations and modernization. The folks over at A+B Kasha did a breathtaking job of restoring this classic apartment in the 16th arrondissement of Paris. You can view more of their lovely work here.
