***This post does not include instructions, it is not a DIY. Apologies.

If you have seen our wedding photos, you might have seen our nail and string table numbers. You can see them in action here, or here with the photographs we took of the paper goods Steven designed. I enjoyed making the table numbers, and thought I could come up with something nice to put up in our home after the wedding. I made a bunch of terrible attempts, and landed on this.

Sorry I missed this comment Yvette! Unfortunately, I never wrote up instructions for this one. Someone must have just added the word tutorial when they put the project on Pinterest.

Yvette I started doing these. Pinterest has great ideas and if you are good, free hand the feather. Good luck.

Did you use 2 different color of nail heads? What size nails also?

This is so beautiful. I homeschool my kids, and I have been looking for a piece of art to do with them that doesn’t look “kid craft.” This looks perfect. What type of string did you use? I saw this on pinterest and it said “tutorial”, although I don’t see an actual tutorial. Are you just stringing from center to outside, once on each nail, or twice on each nail?

Thank you so much! Unfortunately, I never wrote up instructions for this one. Someone must have just added the word tutorial when they put the project on Pinterest. You can find all of the other the DIY projects on the main project page.

What’s the size of the wooden plank?

    • Nicole on Jan 13, 2014 Reply

Unfortunately it’s still packed in a box somewhere, but it’s probably somewhere around 4″ x 9″

Beautiful feather string art!!! I love it :) question…I’ve been working on a few pieces with string art and want to incorporate it with Paverpol – so here’s my question – how do you keep your nail height consistent? I have some higher and some lower…kind of frustrating. Again, I LOVE the feather design you did…very graceful and beautiful :D

Hey Marnie, I’m glad you like the feather! I kept my nail height consistent by using a pair of needle nose pliers. I would hold the nail right near the head with the pliers and nail in until I couldn’t anymore. The nails would then be nailed in to the plier’s height. It’s not perfect, but it works.

What did you do to treat the wood to get that finish?

    • Nicole on Jul 19, 2013 Reply

Stained it a walnut color, and white washed it with paint
